Selenium Related to Prostate Cancer Risk

Low blood levels of the mineral selenium may mean a man has an increased risk of prostate cancer. A number of studies have indicated that selenium intake offers some protection from prostate cancer. And the new findings support the hypothesis that supplemental selenium may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Selenium is a trace mineral found in foods such as Brazil nuts and walnuts. It acts as an antioxidant, helping to neutralize byproducts of normal metabolism called free radicals, which can damage cells and contribute to cancer.

In the current study, the researchers evaluated selenium levels in blood samples from 52 men with prostate cancer. These men had provided blood samples before they were diagnosed with prostate cancer and again after their diagnosis. This group was compared with 96 otherwise healthy men who had periodically had their blood selenium levels measured.

The investigators found that prostate cancer risk was significantly higher in the group of men with the lowest selenium blood levels, compared with the groups with higher levels. Low selenium is associated with a 4- to 5-fold increased risk of prostate cancer. Low selenium levels remained a risk factor even after the researchers took into account other factors such as age, smoking and alcohol use.

No surprise here as there are large numbers of studies clearly documenting the anticancer properties of selenium. It is one mineral that many should consider supplementing on a regular basis. It also has a synergistic effect with vitamin E.

Balancing Body pH for Better Health and how this relates to cancer.

In a nutshell - maintaining proper body tissue pH is critical for staying healthy. The pH (parts/percentage Hydrogen) scale ranges from 0 (very acidic) to 14 (very alkaline). Most people are born into this world with a pH near or at 7 (neutral pH). If you can keep your body tissue pH somewhere between 6.5 - 7.0 it is very difficult to get sick. A near neutral pH (green-blue range) is the goal. This is why most of the health and wellness folks are always eating green foods in abundance; these foods are loaded with alkaline elements to keep the pH balanced.

Alkaline tissue holds 20 times more oxygen than does acidic tissue and this oxygen rich environment is critical for maintaining health and snuffing out the bad guys (anaerobic bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc.). Blood serum pH never changes (always a 7.37) if it changes more than .2 up or down you will die. However your body tissue pH will fluctuate constantly based on your diet and the foods/drinks consumed. Most every cancer patient tested will show a pH of 4 - 5, very acidic! This acidity of body tissue drives out the health giving oxygen. Low oxygen = an environment ripe for cancer. Cancer thrives in an oxygen deficient environment. Acidic pH = cancer magnet!

HOW TO GET A GOOD pH READING? One of the best ways to get a fairly accurate reading of one's tissue pH is to pass a litmus paper through a urine stream first thing in the morning. The 1st urine in the morning is a pretty good indicator because the body has had all night to process the entire days nutrient ingestion and balance itself out- hence a good indicator of real body tissue pH.

Do not be surprised if you test acidic. Most folks initially will test very acidic in the yellow zone (pH 4 - 5). Time to make changes to move this into the green zone (pH 6.5 - 7). Urinary pH is always more acidic than the saliva. A normal urinary pH reading in the morning should be somewhere between 6.0-6.4 while in the evening hour a healthy range is considered to be somewhere between 6.4 - 6.8. The pH of the saliva should be slightly more alkaline than that of the urine. A healthy pH for saliva fluctuates somewhere between 6.6 - 7.0.

The best way to make your pH more alkaline is to stop consuming things that make acidity levels greater in the body- cola soda pop is a 2.0! It takes 32- 8 oz glasses of pH 8 water to counter balance 1 can of soda pop! Coffee is a 4! Most beer is somewhere between 2.5-4.2 depending on the brand. Folks that consume huge amounts of soda pop and/or beer are usually acidic and are magnets for most illnesses including cancer.

Potassium and sodium are both 14 on the pH scale, calcium registers a 12 and magnesium is 9 - all alkalizing elements for the body to shift the pH alkaline. Shifting pH normally takes some time so do not become discouraged in your climb out of the acid tank. Young children with high vitality levels will normally be alkaline and if they are not will normally return to an alkaline tissue pH in a matter of just a couple of weeks on the minerals along with minor dietary changes (eliminate soda pop and all sugar for quickest change). Adults take longer. You are probably looking at 3-4 months in your endeavor.

Every mineral has an optimum pH that it likes and performs best in. Iron for example will perform best when the body tissue pH is between 6.0 - 7.0 while iodine has a much more narrow band width of performance (6.3 - 6.6). If the tissue pH is further out than this the body cannot maximize the mineral nutrient to effect the healing it should.

Cesium: Nature's premier body alkalizer

Cesium, the most electropositive and least abundant of the five naturally occurring alkali metals, was discovered spectroscopically in 1860. The first cesium metal was produced in 1881. Historically, the most important use for cesium has been in research and development. There are a number of areas of the world where the incidence of cancer is very low. The authors have been able to collect information on the chemical composition of food in these low incidence areas. In every case, the cesium content has been found to be very high. In addition, the diet has been found to be high in the supportive compounds i.e. vitamin C, vitamin A, Zinc and Selenium. It seems apparent therefore, that the composition of foods and the diet eaten in these areas are similar to the nutritive requirements for the high pH therapy.

Dr. Otto Warburg published a Nobel Prize winning paper over 75 years ago describing the environment of the cancer cell. A normal cell undergoes an adverse change when it can no longer take up oxygen to convert glucose into energy by oxidation. In the absence of oxygen the cell reverts to a primitive nutritional program to sustain itself, converting glucose, by fermentation. The lactic acid produced by fermentation lowers the cell pH (acid/alkaline balance) and destroys the ability of DNA and RNA to control cell division - the cancer cells begin to multiply unchecked. The lactic acid simultaneously causes intense local pain and destroys cell enzymes. Therefore, cancer appears as a rapidly growing outer cell mass with a core of dead cells.

Cesium, a naturally occurring alkaline element has been shown to affect the cancer cell two ways. First, cesium limits the cellular uptake of the nutrient glucose - starving the cancer cell and diminishing fermentation. Second, cesium raises the cell pH to the range of 8.0 neutralizing the weak lactic acid and stopping pain within 12 to 24 hours. A pH range of 8.0 is a deadly environment for the cancer cell. The cancer cell dies within a few days and is absorbed and eliminated by the body.

The science of High pH therapy (drastically changing the acid/alkaline balance of the cell):

By the late 1970's mass spectrographic and isotope studies had shown that tumor cells exhibit a preference for the uptake of certain alkaline minerals; Potassium, Rubidium, and especially Cesium. Further, specific antioxidants i.e. vitamin C, and Zinc were shown to enhance the uptake of these alkaline minerals by the cancer cell. A normal cell is surrounded by a membrane, which selectively allows materials to flow in and out. Oxygen and nutrients, such as glucose, flow in and the waste products of cellular chemistry flow out. The cells are protected by the immune system; a well functioning immune system is the best defense against the formation of cancer cells. When environmental toxins (carcinogens) overwhelm the immune system the entire program is compromised. The cell membrane is affected first, losing its ability to exchange oxygen (respiration); the cell then reverts to a primitive survival mechanism - fermentation. The newly formed (anaerobic) cancer cell cannot be repaired (fermentation is not reversible) the cell is now out of control and must be destroyed as rapidly as possible.

Note that in areas of the world where there is a high cesium content in the soil, cancer is virtually unknown: Hopi Indians of Arizona, the Hunza of North Pakistan, and the Indians of Central and South America. This observation suggests the possibility of a vitamin, mineral, antioxidant formula containing cesium in an amount equal to that found in the soil of cancer-free habitats. This mineral nutrient could be a powerful new tool to help slow down the present cancer epidemic.

The German scientist Hans Nieper has in the meantime shown that cesium chloride is effective in the management of most problematic tumors, e.g. of advanced brochogenic carcinoma with bone metastization. Indeed, for this kind of cancer, cesium seems to be the treatment of choice, even with relatively minor changes in lifestyle. The treatment of cancer [and possibly the prevention of cancer] by cesium is a very pragmatic and intelligent one. It is inexpensive and non-toxic over unlimited time.

Possible side effects noted during Cesium therapy:
Mild numbness within the triangle describing the mouth and the
tip of the nose area. Light nausea and/or flu like discomfort.

NOTE: A few individuals have read that radioactive Cesium is used by radiologists in conventional cancer treatment and asked whether this is the same as Cesium - High pH Therapy. No, it is not. Cesium - High pH Therapy utilizes only unaltered, naturally occurring, non-radioactive Cesium, in the form of a salt - Cesium chloride.

The Neal Deoul Story Cancer Courtroom Showdown:
Defendant's Cancer Cure Denies Maryland Attorney General His Victory

(Baltimore) When Maryland Attorney General Joseph Curran charged Neal Deoul, alternative cancer therapy financier, with distributing deceptive promotional literature neither side could predict how personal the battle would become -- or how the public would be the loser when it was over.

In the heat of a 1998 re-election battle Joe Curran grabbed badly needed headlines by accusing Deoul of participating in "the most egregious case of fraud I have ever seen." T-UP, Inc. the company Deoul financed, was distributing Cesium and T-UP - an aloe vera concentrate - each a natural dietary supplement, to battle cancer and AIDs. And though the attorney general had never received a single consumer complaint, and T-UP, Inc. had testimonials from hundreds of consumers who claimed life changing results, Deoul and T-UP became a convenient target.

But then the unexpected struck in January of 1999. As the case against Deoul unfolded in court, Deoul himself was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. It was a shocking and ironic development that would put courtroom testimony about alternative cancer therapy to the ultimate test -- and expose how badly tilted the scales of justice can be in the so-called "war against cancer."

While prosecutors and defense attorneys battled, Deoul quietly and confidently turned to Cesium & T-UP concentrated aloe, his own products, for treatment of his prostate cancer. His doctors were shocked. They protested loudly and predicted the worst if Deoul continued to refuse surgery, radiation and other standard therapies. Instead, Deoul's PSA plummeted. His condition improved taking his own medicine.

Cesium and T-UP are at the center of the Maryland courtroom controversy. The products were marketed by T-UP, Inc. as dietary supplements under FDA rules. Cesium is nature's most alkaline mineral capable of significantly raising the pH of malignant cells until the cancer cells die --- usually within days. As long ago as 1925, two-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg found that cancer cells are anaerobic; meaning they thrive only in a low-oxygen state. Cesium changes that environment. The combination of Cesium and concentrated aloe vera acts as a potent one-two punch against cancer.

Deoul's Battle
In Deoul's case, the measures of prostate cancer activity in his body dropped dramatically after completing the Cesium/ T-UP treatment regimen. When he was first diagnosed in January of 1999 his PSA level was 8.1 complicated by a Gleason score of 7. The two numbers combined indicated a highly aggressive prostate cancer. But by October of that year, after treatment, (i.e. 3 Cesium pills per day for six weeks) his PSA dropped to 3.7. No other therapies were used.

Meanwhile, Deoul continues to lead a completely normal life. He has not suffered the scarring of surgery or the debilitation of radiation - or devastating side effects like erectile dysfunction or incontinence. His doctor, a proponent of standard "slash and burn" cancer therapy, will not comment publicly about the results. So far, the Attorney General has remained silent as well.

Deoul's supporters called it a "Kangaroo Court."
Unfortunately, Deoul's successful treatment in the real world was not mirrored in the courtroom. A Maryland Administrative Law Judge found Deoul and T-UP, Inc. guilty of violating Maryland's consumer protection statutes. But the ruling came only after the judge refused to allow Deoul's defense team to put on its full complement of witnesses -- including over 80 people who would have testified that Cesium and T-UP helped them battle cancer and a number of other serious ailments. Deoul was also denied a trial by his peers. The Attorney General used Maryland's arcane consumer protection process to direct the case into the Administrative Law system, where there are no juries. Worse yet, there are no set rules of evidence to insure a fair trial.

Meanwhile, the state's expert witnesses never provided evidence that Deoul's claims were false. In fact, not one of the State's expert witnesses had first hand experience with Cesium or concentrated aloe vera in human usage. Instead, testimony focused on whether or not the marketer was in strict compliance with complex and changing FDA rules on the sale of dietary supplements. The critical question -- do the products actually fight cancer? -- was not addressed in the judge's findings.

In the end, however, it is Deoul who declares the ultimate victory. With the State's awesome powers of injunction, the Attorney General has never sought to remove the products from the marketplace: If the products were not safe and effective - why are they still sold? Cesium and T-UP are still available because they are safe and effective. Evidence based medical practice is proving Cesium and T-UP to be potent treatments for patients seeking alternatives to the deadly trio of conventional medical treatments - slash, burn and poison.

Meanwhile, as critics and supporters pick the facts of the case apart, it's Maryland Attorney General Joe Curran who now appears to be caught twisting the truth to serve his own needs. With restored health, Deoul vows to spend whatever it takes to support additional research into the efficacy of Cesium and T-UP in the treatment of cancer. Deoul believes it is his obligation to blow the whistle --- He believes his personal experience is convincing evidence that there is a medical establishment conspiracy to cover up the benefits of many natural treatments.

Deoul accuses pharmaceutical firms and government agencies that fund drug testing of ignoring compelling evidence that Cesium and concentrated aloe vera work. He believes they fear the truth because it would cut into corporate profits fueled by the cancer industry and ruin the careers of establishment researchers who've made a handsome living advocating standard treatments. No pharmaceutical company will ever fund the costly drug approval process for a non-proprietary product. It's all about the bottom-line! In too many cases, Deoul says it's the approved, conventional treatments that leave patients sicker than when they first came for the life-saving help they so desperately need.

It's time to put life above profit; it's time to begin using nature's potent weapon -Cesium!

CURRAN'S TACTICS QUESTIONED
BY DEOUL'S SUPPORTERS
(Baltimore) It was March of 1998. Headlines were breaking about a Virginia doctor accused of illegally administering liquid aloe vera concentrate intravenously to cancer patients. In the neighboring state of Maryland, Attorney General Joe Curran was locked in a heated battle for re-election. Curran heard about T-UP, Inc., a Maryland company selling concentrated aloe vera, a dietary supplement called T-UP, along with Cesium, nature's most alkaline mineral. Even though T-UP, Inc. financier Neal Deoul was not involved in the Virginia case, Curran saw a chance to make headlines of his own. T-UP, Inc., Allen Hoffman and Neal Deoul were charged with consumer deception, in part, for daring to promote extensively documented medical research along with T-UP's products -- research that linked both Cesium and concentrated aloe vera to some intriguing and promising cancer fighting properties.

But what were the Attorney General's real motivations? And why did he maneuver the case into a venue where no jury would hear the evidence -- and a conviction was assured?
Consider these facts:

1. The Attorney General never filed a criminal fraud complaint against the company or its officers. He preferred to use his state's consumer protection process, which provides only for an administrative law judge to hear the case, and render judgements with no jury.

2. Curran launched his "consumer" case -- without any substantial complaints from consumers. Only two consumer comments had reached his office -- one from a man who didn't like the taste of T-UP -- and another from a woman who never ordered or used the product. In accordance with company policy, the purchaser received his money back, no questions asked. Meanwhile T-UP, Inc. had no less than 3700 product users --- hundreds of them were prepared to testify about stunning results they'd experienced while using Cesium and T-UP. Of course, in Curran's personal court, they were not allowed to testify.

3. The Attorney General never used his power of injunctive relief to force the products off the market. In fact, Cesium and T-UP concentrated aloe vera are still being sold today. If he is so concerned about consumer's health, why didn't the Maryland Attorney General go all the way? If the safety and efficacy of the products are truly his concern, then the failure to enjoin their sale is a flagrant dereliction of duty on his part.

4. The Attorney General refused all attempts by T-UP, Inc. to meet with state officials to discuss alternatives to litigation. Meanwhile, as an act of good faith, T-UP voluntarily turned over all its records and voluntarily withdrew all marketplace promotion -- without subpoena. The company naively believed cooperation would create understanding and lead to an acceptable resolution. It was a miscalculation.

5. At trial, prosecutors failed to produce a single witness who had clinical or practical experience with Cesium. In fact, prosecutors admitted they could not prove T-UP's claims were false. Instead, they simply argued that because FDA approved testing had not occurred, T-UP had no right to make any positive claims. All this ignores a critical legal fact -- FDA testing and approval is not required in order to market dietary supplements like Cesium or T-UP.

The Attorney General didn't remove the products from the shelves, or allege criminal fraud for one simple reason -- he had no proof that the medical facts T-UP relied on were false - and, with literally hundreds of success stories, no jury would have convicted the marketers in a real court of law.

Instead, Curran saw a cynical opportunity to score hit-anrun media points, and run rough-shod over an honest businessman who aimed to spread the truth about promising alternative therapies. Curran was re-elected. Deoul lost his case, but not his life! Deoul's use of Cesium and aloe vera to successfully treat his own prostate cancer undercuts the State's efforts to ridicule the effectiveness of these natural dietary supplements. Millions of cancer sufferers are being denied their First Amendment right to learn the full truth about alternative therapies that don't leave patients surgery-scarred and poisoned by radiation and chemotherapy.

Neal's Dosage
Many of you are asking for more information about my personal experience with Cesium - High pH Therapy. How much Cesium did I take? What does the literature indicate? When did I take it? Where did I get it? What is my prognosis?

First and foremost, based on personal experience, I urge everyone to seek the counsel of an experienced healthcare professional. I am a physicist and an attorney, not a physician.

The following information is my experience and is not provided for purposes of diagnosis, treatment or prescription. Involve your doctor. The more experience physicians and oncologists have with Cesium the more likely they are to incorporate Cesium into their practice and to recommend the use of Cesium to their colleagues in treating cancer.

Let me emphasize, I was informed that Cesium must always be taken with food. I strictly followed that advice throughout my treatment period.

I must point out that at various times during the protocol period, I experienced what I describe as minor "flu like symptoms." I have read that others taking Cesium experienced tingling sensations around the nose and lips, but I did not.

After adhering to the Cesium protocol for a six week period and over subsequent months my PSA dropped from 8.1 to its' current stabilized level at 4.5. The most recent blood work and results of a bone scan indicate that I show no signs of cancer. Everything I have said here is based upon my personal experience and knowledge. Whatever I have said is not meant to convey any impression that others should expect the same results that I experienced.

Let me quickly review. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January 1999. At the time tests indicated that my PSA was 8.1. Subsequent biopsies confirmed the presence of prostate cancer, indicating an aggressive Gleason score at 7. My physician recommended immediate radical surgery. In fact he was so insistent and sure of his authority that he scheduled the procedure.

I refused. Why? I had financed T-UP, Inc. a company that distributed Cesium, nature's most alkaline mineral and T-UP, a highly concentrated aloe vera liquid. I financed T-UP, Inc. firmly believing then, as I do today, that these dietary supplements are safe and effective. That's my personal experience. That's the experience of several hundreds of people I know personally. Kathleen and I decided the honest and best decision --- the only decision --- I had to do what was best for me. That was to follow the Cesium protocol.

One word of caution --- When people ask about my experience with Cesium, I counsel that before taking an alternative therapy or dietary supplements discuss the decision with a knowledgeable healthcare practitioner. If your physician is negative find a physician with an open mind. Keep searching until you find a qualified physician who will respect your right to make your own healthcare choices. Low Selenium Intake May Raise Risk Of Liver Cancer

Individuals infected with the hepatitis B virus are at increased risk for liver cancer, and a similar risk has been suggested for hepatitis C. Researchers in Taiwan suggest that low blood levels of the element selenium may be linked to the increased risk of liver cancer in patients infected with these viruses.

According to previous studies, selenium boosts immune system function and helps inhibit cancerous cell changes in liver cells exposed to known carcinogens. The researchers report that selenium levels were "significantly lower" in those who developed liver cancer compared with those who did not develop cancer.

According to the investigators, a previous study has suggested that vitamin E and selenium supplements taken in combination resulted in a 13% reduction in cancer mortality in a population with high rates of esophageal and stomach cancer.

COMMENT: Selenium supplementation would be wise for most to consider. If one has mercury toxicity or hepatitis B or C, it is a no-brainer. One should be on this trace mineral. Please remember though that selenium has a low toxicity threshold, so more is not better and can actually cause problems.
