pH Paper is the best way to help you understand how your body is reacting to your diet. Quick and easy to use!

    pH Paper 5.5 - 8 Description

pH Paper is used to measure the alkaline or acidic pH value of a liquid. A small piece of paper is torn off of the roll and dipped into the liquid being measured. The color on the paper is then compared to the color chart on the pH Test Paper package. We recommend using the pH Paper 5.5-8 to test your saliva pH before and after meals and compare the results. Testing your saliva pH is a great way to monitor progress when following the High pH Therapy protocol or when on an alkaline diet.

    What is pH?

pH is a measure of how acidic a solution is. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. pH values below 7 are acidic and pH values above 7 are alkaline (basic).

How Do I Raise My pH?

You cannot raise the pH of your entire body to one specific pH value because there is no one single pH level for the entire body. What you really are trying to do is to “alkalize”. The goal of alkalizing is to remove excess dietary acids and increase the body’s alkaline reserves, which are used to neutralize excess metabolic acids. Excess acids can build up in the body, putting a strain on overworked systems, and leading to a range of side-effects.

    How Do I Alkalize?

The best way to alkalize is through the diet, by eating alkaline-forming foods. Vegetables are the foods that contribute the most alkalinity to the body. For best results, eat a higher ratio of alkaline foods to acidic foods in the diet. Just because a food is acid-forming after digestion doesn’t mean it is unhealthy, it just isn't contributing alkalinity to the body.

How Do I Test My pH Levels with pH Paper 5.5 - 8?

Using pH paper test strips to test your saliva or urine pH is helpful when following an alkaline diet. Keep in mind that saliva and urine pH values do not give you the pH of your whole body. These values are merely used as diagnostic tools to help you understand how your body is reacting to your diet.

Everything we eat affects the health and well-being of our body. Improving our diet can actually improve our health. The foods we eat can have an alkalizing or acidifying effect on the body after digestion. When nutritionists talk about acid- or alkaline-forming foods, they are referring to the condition of the food after ingestion, and not to the pH level of the food itself. The net acid-forming load a food exerts on the body can be measured using a scientific formula called PRAL (potential renal acid load).

Vegetables and fruits are the most alkalizing foods, and should be at the core of any healthy diet change. The standard American diet based around meat, dairy, and grains is full of acid-forming foods. Eating alkaline-forming foods can balance out the intake of excess acids and help flush them from the body. Any excess of acids in the body create unnecessary work your body's buffering systems and the overload can affect your health.

The body has three major mechanisms (buffering systems) that prevent dietary and metabolic acids from shifting the pH of the cells and blood outside of the narrow range needed for optimum function. A pH balancing act is continuously going on to maintain homeostasis. Too much acid in the body leads to acidosis, whereas high alkalinity in the body is referred to as alkalosis. Since many of the enzymes necessary for facilitating metabolic reactions only operate within very specific pH ranges, any acid-base homeostasis imbalances can lead to a range of malfunctions and degenerative diseases.

High pH therapy focuses on using a combined nutrition and supplement approach to balance body pH by reducing the load on the overworked buffering system. The alkaline diet focus of pH therapy is of particular importance for those needing intense nutritional support when dealing with major health challenges.
