SODIUM BICARBONATE

Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) is a salt widely known under the name "baking soda" or "bicarbonate of soda". Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid that neutralizes stomach acid, and is used to relieve heartburn and indigestion.4 It is an alkali substance that increases the pH of the blood.5 An overdose of sodium bicarbonate can cause severe alkalosis.1 Sodium bicarbonate has been noted for its fungicidal properties in plants.3 Lasting fungicidal activity against plant diseases...can be obtained by using sodium bicarbonate in combination with a surfactant.8 *

+ ACID REFLUX
Acid Reflux, or Reflux Esophagitis, is an inflammation of the esophagus caused by regurgitation of the stomach contents and is more commonly recognized by its symptom of heartburn.
+ CANCER
Cancer is any of various malignant neoplasms characterized by the proliferation of anaplastic cells that tend to invade surrounding tissues and metastasize to new body sites.
+ CANDIDA
Candida is a genus of the pathogenic, yeast-like fungi.
+ FUNGAL INFECTIONS
+ HEARTBURN
Heartburn is a burning sensation in the stomach and/or chest usually as a result of stomach acid backing up into the esophagus.
+ INDIGESTION
Indigestion is the inability to digest or a difficulty in properly digesting food in the alimentary tract, causing abdominal discomfort and illness.

MORE INFORMATION ON SODIUM BICARBONATE
01.

Sodium Bicarbonate Chemistry and Compatibility...
Sodium bicarbonate therapy (particularly high-dose par enteral use) can lead to severe metabolic alkalosis, hypokalemia, hypocalcemia, “overshoot” alkalosis, hypernatremia, volume overload, congestive heart failure, shifts in the oxygen dissociation curve causing decreased tissue oxygenation, and paradoxical CNS acidosis leading to respiratory arrest. Oral sodium bicarbonate can either increase or reduce the rate and/or extent of absorption of many orally administered drugs.

02. Simoncini Sodium Bicarbonate Theory...
"At the moment, against fungi there is no useful remedy other than, in my opinion, sodium bicarbonate."
03.

Baking Soda as a Plant Fungicide...
There has been considerable interest in the use of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3) and potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) to control powdery mildew and other fungal diseases of plants.

04. Sodium Bicarbonate on Drugs.com...
Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid that neutralizes stomach acid. It is used to relieve heartburn and indigestion. It is also used to make the blood and urine less acidic in certain conditions.
05. A Spoonful of Baking Soda DOES Speed You Up, Say Scientists...
"Sodium bicarbonate is an alkali substance that increases the pH of the blood. This seems to reduce and offset the acidity produced in the muscles during intense, anaerobic exercise that produces lactic acid most quickly, such as fast running or swimming."
06. Sodium Bicarbonate Infusion Found to Reduce Risk of Contrast-Induced Nephropathy...
Data analysis revealed that patients receiving sodium bicarbonate achieved urine pH's of 6.5 as opposed to 5.6 with those receiving sodium chloride. This alkalinization is theorized to have a protective effect against the formation of free-radicals that may cause nephropathy.

SCIENTIFIC STUDY

07. Sodium Bicarbonate No Protection Against Contrast Nephropath...
Using sodium bicarbonate does not prevent contrast-medium–induced nephropathy in patients with moderate to severe renal dysfunction, a new randomized study has found.

SCIENTIFIC STUDY

08. Agricultural and Horticultural Fungicide and Fruit Storage Disease Preventing Agent...
It was found that sodium bicarbonate has a fungicidal activity and at the same time that the compound has a defect as a fungicide in that it is inferior in adhesiveness and spreadability and for this reason cannot be used alone as a fungicide. It is further found that an agricultural and horticultural fungicide having lasting fungicidal activity against plant diseases in a control value of over 90% can be obtained by using sodium bicarbonate in combination with a surfactant, particularly a food emulsifier, and further that the combination shows extensive effect in preventing fruit storage diseases.
