ARTHRITIS

Arthritis is an inflammation of a joint resulting in pain, swelling, stiffness, and deformity. The two most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis involves deterioration of the cartilege covering the ends of the bones in the affected joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the body's immune system attacks the synovial membranes that secrete the lubricating synovial fluid in the joints. Inflammation and tissue damage results. *
