Chlorophyll Health Topic

Chlorophyll, the pigment that gives plants their green color, is part of the process plants use to produce energy through photosynthesis. The molecular structure of chlorophyll is almost identical to that of hemin in hemoglobin, a protein in blood that transports oxygen throughout the body. Because of the similarities between chlorophyll and hemin, chlorophyll is able to assimilate into the body and aid in rebuilding blood cells. Chlorphyll has been used in traditional medicine as in internal deodorant, and topically as a wound healer.

Dietary Sources of Chlorophyll:
Asparagus, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green cabbage, celery, collard greens, green beans, green peas, kale, leeks, green olives, parsley, romaine lettuce, sea vegetables, spinach, Swiss chard, and turnip green.

  1. Chlorophyll and Chlorophyllin

Chlorophyll is the pigment that gives plants and algae their green color. Plants use chlorophyll to trap light needed for photosynthesis. The basic structure of chlorophyll is a porphyrin ring similar to that of heme in hemoglobin, although the central atom in chlorophyll is magnesium instead of iron. Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic mixture derived from chlorophyll. During the synthesis of chlorophyllin, the magnesium atom at the center of the ring is replaced with copper and the phytol tail is lost. Unlike natural chlorophyll, chlorophyllin is water-soluble.Unlike natural chlorophyll, chlorophyllin is water-soluble. Chlorophyllin has been used orally as an internal deodorant and topically in the treatment of slow-healing wounds for more than 50 years without any serious side effects.

  2. Green Is For Health: Chlorophyll

Research studies in humans have found that damage to DNA by aflatoxin can be decreased as much as 55% through supplementation with chlorophyllin.

  3. How Chlorophyll Rebuilds Blood Cells

The molecular structure of chlorophyll is almost identical to the molecular structure of hemin, which is a part of haemoglobin, a protein in blood that transports oxygen throughout the body. The only difference between the chlorophyll and the hemin is the fact that magnesium (Mg) is at the centre of chlorophyll, and iron (Fe) is at the centre of hemin. Scientists have observed the assimilation of chlorophyll into the body and found that at some point, the magnesium turns into iron.

  4. Chlorophyll and Hemoglobin Regeneration after Hemorrhage

The question of synthesis of hemoglobin from chlorophyll arises from their closely allied chemical structures. Small doses of chlorophyll markedly increased the speed of hemoglobin regeneration. A magnesium-free water-soluble chlorophyll derivative also aided regeneration in large doses.

  6. Chlorophyll as Bad Breath Reducer?

Chlorophyll has potent antioxidant properties and neutralizes unpleasant odors, which may be an effective inclusion in one's halitosis therapy.

  7. Chlorophyllin on Drugs.com

Chlorophyllin is used as an internal deodorant. It has been used to improve breath odor as well as odors from urine, bowel movements (feces), or wound infections.

  8. The Hidden Secrets Of Chlorophyll Juice

Dark leafy greens are the powerhouses behind the thousands of people healing from diet-related diseases. Unfortunately, most conventionally-trained physicians still don't use 'food therapy' as their first line of defense against disease. Includes recipe for "super green immunity tonic".

  9. Chlorophyll Benefits: The Plant Pigment that Heals + Detoxes Better than All Others

Chlorophyll has 5 proven benefits: helps fight cancer, improves liver detoxification, speeds up wound healing, improves digestion and weight control, and protects the skin. To get more chlorophyll eat dark leafy greens and use a liquid chlorophyllin supplement.

  10. How to Detox Medical Radiation: Chlorophyll and Chlorophyllins

For those who are exposed to higher than normal amount of radiation due to unavoidable medical treatment or work, it may be worthwhile to take proactive steps to cut down on the amount of cellular damages done. Do you know that chlorophyll and its derivative chlorophyllin have potent antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic and anti-mutagenic effects that can potentially protect us from radiation damages? In one in vitro study, chlorophyllin reduced the DNA damage from ionizing radiation by 90%.
